Dear Future Teachers,
This post will be a little different than my regular content. I began my junior year at UNC three weeks ago, and these last few weeks have been filled with some of the most hectic, uncertain, and stressful days of my college career. Last week alone I had to move off of campus, started my new virtual position with Student U Durham, and have experienced a personal loss, on top of keeping up with my new course schedule. Full disclosure, it has been a really tough and overwhelming month! While I am feeling beyond frazzled as I adjust to the series of changes that have been thrown my way, I contemplated skipping this weeks blog post. However, after some more thinking, I wanted to keep my commitment to posting consistently at least once a week. I know many of us are riding the struggle bus, so I wanted to uplift my fellow Education majors, current teachers, and anyone who feels that they need a boost of positive energy. This post will be much shorter than usual, but I encourage you to take time to recite these affirmations to yourself this week!
I am doing the best that I can.
The work that I am doing will make a positive impact.
Today I will be forgiving with myself.
I am proud of doing _______ today.
I will let go of what is out of my control.
My productivity does not define me.
I am in control of what I feel; today I choose calmness.
I am fulfilling my purpose in this world.
I will accomplish my goals.
I am worthy, whole, and loved.
These are the affirmations I am committing to this week, and I hope you all do the same! Set a daily reminder in your calendar and repeat these affirmations (or any affirmations that work for you) and remember I am sending so much love and positivity your way!
Much Love,
Emily B.
